Who we are

The data controller (the Data Fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) is The Napit Salon Unisex Academy, Raj Laxmi Bhavan, 488 Grand Trunk Road, Mahesh Bose Para, Serampore, Hooghly, West Bengal 712202. We run a hair, beauty and makeup salon and a training academy.

What we collect

Only what you choose to give us: your name, phone number, the services you want, your preferred date and time, and any note you write (for example hair length, allergies or skin conditions). You can give it through the booking form, WhatsApp, phone, email, social media or at the salon.

The website has no customer accounts and takes no online payments. When you open the website, your browser also sends technical data (IP address, browser type, pages opened) to our hosting and database providers so the site can load. If you agree to analytics cookies, we also receive anonymous usage statistics.

Why we use it and our legal basis

To reply to you, confirm and manage your appointment, give price estimates, and answer academy enquiries. Legal basis: it is needed to take steps at your request before a service (contract), and you give it to us yourself (consent).

If you tell us about allergies or skin or health conditions, we use that only to deliver your service safely, and we treat it as sensitive. We use cookies for analytics or ads only if you accept them. We do not send marketing messages unless you ask us to, and we do not sell your details.

Who we share it with

Only with providers that help us run the website and talk to you, under their own data protection terms: Google Firebase (database that stores booking requests), Netlify (website hosting), WhatsApp (when you message us), and Google (Maps and fonts shown on the website, and analytics or advertising only if you accept cookies). We share details with authorities only when the law requires it.

Cookies and similar storage

Essential: your browser remembers your cookie choice, your selected services and the website theme. These are needed for the site to work and do not track you.

Optional: Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Microsoft Clarity and Google AdSense are used only if the salon turns them on and you tap Accept on the cookie bar. If you tap No thanks, they do not load. You can change your choice by clearing this site’s data in your browser.

Transfers outside your country

Our providers store and process data on servers that can be outside India and outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. We rely on the providers’ own safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.

How long we keep details

We keep booking details for up to 24 months after your last visit, unless the law requires us to keep them longer, and then delete them. Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted within 6 months. Only authorised salon staff can open them. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the details we hold about you, correct them, delete them, limit how we use them, give you a copy, or stop contacting you. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and you can object to our use of your details. If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK these are your rights under the GDPR. In India they are your rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including nominating someone to exercise them for you.

Grievances and complaints

Please contact the salon owner first, using the email or phone above, and we will try to fix the problem quickly. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India, or to the data protection authority in your country if you are in the EEA or UK.

Children

We cut children’s hair, and a parent or guardian arranges those visits and gives the details. This website is not directed at anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to book for you. If we learn we hold a child’s details without a parent’s consent, we delete them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The effective date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
